Privacy notice

Maths Decides is run by Sian Townson, who is the data controller for the information described here. You can contact her through the question form on the homepage.

Reading the site

The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics or advertising trackers. It is hosted by Cloudflare, whose servers necessarily process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare’s handling of that information is described in its privacy policy.

Submitting a question

The question form does not ask for your name or email address. Whatever you write is sent through FormSubmit (formsubmit.co), which forwards it by email to a Gmail account. FormSubmit and Google therefore also process the submission; Google’s handling is described in its privacy policy. Please do not include personal details in your question.

Questions are used only to decide what Maths Decides should look into. They are not published with anything that identifies you, shared for marketing or sold. The lawful basis is legitimate interests: considering questions that readers have chosen to send. Questions are deleted once they are no longer needed for that purpose.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of, correction of or deletion of personal information held about you, and you can object to its use. Because the form collects no contact details, it may only be possible to find your submission if you can describe it. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
